Eventual yelling about media for better or worse

Little Shop Of Horrors

This is a t4t couple and you cannot change my mind. I seriously dislike how sexual AudreyII acts, that said I do have to give major props to the puppeteers and practical effects department because that plant is slimy and emotive and I love it. The songs smack tbh, also love the dissonance between Audrey's speaking voice and her belting during songs. I hope their picket fence life goes well and they both get a nap. Also the level of intent with wich young me adored the backup singers/narrators as a child should have been an indicator of some sort lol.

Drag Me To Hell

Had to watch this for class and honestly had a fun time. Watched it with friends and sibs so def got to yell at the screen. Is it kinda racist and sterotypical yes, is that shcoking for a horror film from 2009 not really? Totally missed the warning about the cat dying so i cannot recommend the movie if that squicks you out. That said, love that i get to feel the catharsis of thinking this woman kinda earned being dragged into hell by being a total ass to people in her life. Also live the effects, the fucking maggots and vom are grody and disgusting(affectionate) loved getting to see a movie for class that the horror comes from the gross out effect and threat of hell, rather than loomiing marital wiolence or something like that. Getting to yell about how gross parts of this were was definitely fun. Would like to know if the button is still cursed, but I can get behind the idea that the fastest way to hell is to place your morals aside in order to rise and prosper in a capitalist hell hole that does not care about you.

Thunder Force

Honestly a much funnier movie than I was expecting it to be. Like it gets kinda gross and cringy at times but its super enjoyable!! like its fun, the costumes are funky, and there's a surprising amount of fun poked at the genre. Also I love the weird little crab man I think he is funny as hell. Also bonus points for granny being absolutely kickass and having shipped the two leads for long enough to aquire a lesbian wedding topper for them. I like the tone and that there seemed to be genuine fun happening on set, like its weird and thats good. It actually makes me think of comics, like its nonsense but its super enjoyable and I highly recommmend.

First off sorry for the image quality there lol. Honestly I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as I thought I would. Though that may be in part because the version I watched for class was,,, less than high quality so there was a chunk of about 10 mins that was just black screen. That basically just sent all of my immersion out the window so I wasnt super invested after that point out of rage. However I think it's definitely a pretty movie if not super scary. I get that it's supposed to be a lot of allegory and discussion of the shadow self, the repressed, and social commentary on inequality, but I don't really find that scary at this point. Like the concept is cool, but I guess I'm sort of numb to the horrors of social inequality at this point having had to consider them for a good chunk of my life and all. Also i find it weird and inconsistent in terms of central lore operating, like sometimes the shadows have to repeat exactly what is happening above, but other's they seem to have full free will? Why don't more of them talk if they are apparently capable of it once learning to? How are they getting resources down in the tunnels and how do the shadows account for people who weren't copied, if this is a government thng they couldn'thave cloned everyone in the world and people visit santa cruz and do things all the time, whaat about people who lived there for decades and then left? Essentially I know it isnt supposed to have coherent lore and is mainly to deal with themes but that pulls me out. Enjoyable movie though! I really like the way scenes are shot and the callbacks to other horror movies or different works of media.
